Trees of Doi Phu Kha forest. One of most healthiest hill evergreen rain forest in Thailand is said to be home to many species of fauna and
flora yet to be documented. For the hikers, be aware of leeches and unexpected rain in wet and cool months. Well, this highland could be wet and or cool
from May to February.
Sai Yai river in Khao Yai national park in the evening.
Sai Yai river flows snaking through the landscape of Khao Yai national park. Some sections of the river are deep in the valley and impassable.
However there are places where hiking is possible along and across the river in some months depending on high or low waters (January 2004 travel).
On our another trek to Sai Yai river in winter, Khao Yai national park rangers struggled to sleep through the cold night cuddling themselves around
the bonfire.
A waterfall on Sai Yai river where crossing is possible during low water.
A scene of lush jngle where you feel alone in the middle of the forest, on the trail from south-western border to central part of Khao Yai national park,
Thailand (January 2008 trek).
Hikers on the same trail in Khao Yai national park.
From the same travel, a forest ranger at a night camp, Khao Yai. Picture taken by our German friends - they are in the above photo.
